To mark World Water Day, OCW has organized a one-week engaging save water awareness program with the global theme “Accelerating change” in different slums of Nagpur city with NMC and Green Vigil Foundation from 22nd March till 28th of March. During the campaign, various activities were conducted by the social welfare team for community onboarding and awareness such as the Drawing competition, rangoli-making competition, etc. on saving water. Street plays are also performed by OCW employees and students of Tirpude College of social work on “How to save and keep our water clean?”. The purpose of this initiative was to educate the community about saving water and drinking safe water.
TOCW Pvt. Ltd. while dealing with the water issues of the local community at Ganga Nagar Slum, got to know the livelihood issues of community women and their interest to emerge. Looking towards the spark among the women, OCW collaborated with the networking NGO ‘UPAY’ and started a Skill Development Center ‘Samarth’ for underprivileged community dwellers. 3 courses have been designed for the community women and youths so far i.e. a Computer training course, a Stitching course, and a beauty parlor course. In anticipation of it, we are opening 3 more centers in various parts of Nagpur.
OCW has initiated a Cleanliness Drive on 04th November 2022 to solve this everyday growing roadside garbage dumping problem with a permanent solution. OCW understood its social responsibility and developed its networking with the NMC health department, AG Enviro Infra, UPAY NGO, Green Vigil Foundation, volunteers of Tirpude College of Social Work, and area community dwellers to understand the root cause of this problem. And with this Joint effort, OCW has successfully converted the Black spot into a clean white parking spot. More such activities will be carried out by the OCW in the entire Nagpur including livelihood initiatives for the urban poor of the city.
In February, OCW organized a 3-day “Samarth Product Expo” in collaboration with UPAY NGO, this exhibition was conducted to inspire and give a marketplace to the community women with latent talents and center beneficiaries to share their skills and Products. This Samarth Product Exhibition is a reflection of a combination of OCW and UPAY's productive and successful Skill Development Center (Samarth). In this exhibition, 35 women participated to market 89 different varieties of products. The exhibition got a huge response from the community as ~1000 people visited the exhibition and supported the women. The skill development center “Samarth” produced a number of uplifting success stories.
